An Enchanting Reunion of Musical Masters: Peter Wiley and Anna Polonsky Set to Dazzle Central Oregon’s Stage with Timeless Classics

### Celebrating Excellence in Music: A Gala Performance by Renowned Artists

Central Oregon is gearing up for a spectacular return of world-class artists Peter Wiley and Anna Polonsky, who will grace the stage for the High Desert Chamber Music’s Celebrity Recitals on April 20, 2026. These highly talented musicians are set to bring their exceptional artistry back to Bend, enchanting audiences with a selection of masterful compositions. The program highlights Beethoven's Variations on "The Magic Flute," Schubert's Arpeggione Sonata, and Rachmaninoff's Sonata in G minor, Op. 19. This exciting reunion is not only significant for the local concert series but also marks a long-awaited opportunity for classical music lovers to indulge in an unforgettable evening of musical excellence.

Wiley and Polonsky are not strangers to the Central Oregon stage; they previously mesmerized audiences in 2017 during the High Desert Chamber Music Concert Series. Their return is eagerly anticipated and reflects the organization’s commitment to bringing world-renowned musicians together with local audiences. Isabelle Senger, the executive director of High Desert Chamber Music, expressed her delight over the upcoming concert. “We are thrilled to welcome Wiley and Polonsky back to Central Oregon,” Senger remarked. “Their previous visit left a lasting impression on our audience, and this return underscores the meaningful connections that enhance our series and enrich the cultural fabric of our community.”

Peter Wiley, a distinguished cellist with a storied career, has an impressive background that enhances his performances. He was a key member of the Beaux Arts Trio from 1987 to 1998 and later succeeded the legendary David Soyer as the cellist of the prestigious Guarneri String Quartet from 2001 to 2009. Over the years, Wiley has earned recognition for his incredible talent, including an Avery Fisher Career Grant and two Grammy nominations. His journey in music began at a young age when he was accepted into the renowned Curtis Institute of Music at just 13 years old. By the age of 20, he had already made a mark as the principal cellist of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. It was during his time in Cincinnati that Wiley connected with Phillip Ruder, a Bend resident and an advisory board member of High Desert Chamber Music, who played a pivotal role in bringing Wiley to perform in Central Oregon nearly a decade ago.

On the piano, Anna Polonsky captivates audiences not only as a soloist but as a collaborative artist as well. A recipient of the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship and the Andrew Wolf Chamber Music Award, Polonsky has been recognized for her exceptional contributions to classical music. She made a memorable solo debut in Moscow at the tender age of seven and refined her skills at prestigious institutions such as the Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School. Her accomplishments underscore her versatility and dedication to the art form, making her a sought-after performer in the world of chamber music.

High Desert Chamber Music plays a vital role in fostering a deep appreciation of chamber music in the region. Now in its eighteenth season, the organization is dedicated to presenting outstanding concerts featuring some of the most talented artists in classical music. By curating a roster of professional musicians, they ensure that audiences in Central Oregon have access to exceptional performances that inspire and move the spirit. The combination of Wiley's soulful cello and Polonsky's expressive piano promises an evening filled with captivating melodies and rich harmonies, offering an extraordinary experience for attendees.

For those interested in catching this spectacular performance, tickets for the Celebrity Recital can be secured through High Desert Chamber Music’s website or by visiting their office in Downtown Bend. The event is generously sponsored by a group of supportive local businesses, including Pahlisch Homes, Newberry Hotel, Cascade A&E, Central Oregon Daily, and Combined Communications. This collaborative effort speaks to the community spirit in Central Oregon, highlighting the importance of supporting the arts and keeping classical music alive in the region.

In conclusion, the upcoming concert featuring Peter Wiley and Anna Polonsky is a milestone event that reflects the vibrancy of the classical music scene in Central Oregon. Audiences can look forward to an evening that combines musical genius with a shared love for the arts.
