Star-Studded Dance Battles Ignite as Celebrities Strive for the Coveted Mirrorball Trophy in Season 35 Premiere!

The excitement surrounding "Dancing with the Stars" Season 35 is palpable as the premiere ushers in a fresh cast of celebrities eager to compete for the coveted Mirrorball Trophy. This season, the show introduces an impressive lineup of 16 contestants, showcasing not only familiar faces but also some new talent in the professional dance realm. The season kicks off with two nights of competitive performances—male stars lighting up the ballroom on September 15, followed by the female stars strutting their stuff on September 16. This format harkens back to the show's earlier seasons, creating a buzz of nostalgia among longtime fans.

During these opening nights, each celebrity duo must perform a dance routine to a chart-topping song from the year the contestant was born. The stakes rise from the get-go, as both nights will conclude with the pressure of a double elimination. Among the memorable moments from the first night is comedian Guillermo Rodriguez, known for his role on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Despite having little dance experience, Guillermo took to the floor with enthusiasm, aiming to shed some pounds along the way. Partnering with seasoned pro Witney Carson—who is currently pregnant—Guillermo humorously noted that the dance floor can be a bit tricky, showcasing his humorous flair as he rolled around during rehearsals.

Guillermo and Witney kicked things off with a Cha Cha to the classic tune “Mr. Big Stuff” by Jean Knight, and they unequivocally charmed the audience. While Derek Hough noted that their technique could improve, he commended their genuine effort. Judge Bruno Tonioli humorously warned that their performance might just go viral, emphasizing Guillermo's memorable showmanship—if not perfection—resulting in a combined score of 10 out of 30. Following this, the competition was spirited as Alfonso Ribeiro announced that online voting had to be temporarily halted due to technical issues, prompting fans to vote via text instead.

Among the returning participants is Conner Leavitt, who made his debut last season during Dedication Night when his wife competed. This time, he’s paired with up-and-coming pro Adele Zaikman, the winner of "Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro." Without much formal training, Conner confidently declared his intention to shine. Their Salsa to "Whoomp! There It Is" didn’t quite hit the mark, with the judges noting it was somewhat chaotic. The trio’s comments emphasized the need for focus and rhythm, and they scored a 12 out of 30, indicating that Conner still had some room to grow.

Tyler Cameron, venturing from the reality TV realm of "The Bachelorette," was paired with the returning Sharna Burgess. Tyler, brimming with excitement, revealed he had dance training but didn’t broadcast it to his friends. He performed a tango to Lenny Kravitz's “Are You Gonna Go My Way,” which received mixed feedback. While the judges recognized his potential, they also pointed out areas for improvement, particularly in technique. His score landed at 17 out of 30, placing him in a competitive spot early on.

Jackson Olson from the Savannah Bananas kicked off the evening with his partner Emma Slater. With roots in sports, Jackson was a newcomer to ballroom. He performed a Cha Cha to the iconic "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls, leaving the judges impressed by his natural charisma. Derek praised him as a born performer and commended his energy, though all three judges suggested focusing more on detail in future performances, resulting in a score of 15 out of 30.

As the show continues, judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli hold down the panel, offering a blend of constructive criticism and enthusiastic praise as they guide the celebrity contestants through their dancing journeys. With Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro cohosting, the energy feels electric—not only for the cast but also for fans who will be able to vote for their favorites through text messaging or online.

Returning to the mix is Sharna Burgess, herself a former Mirrorball champion, and her collaboration with Tyler Cameron adds an exciting dynamic to the season's competitive spirit. Other notable pairings include celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis with pro Alan Bersten, and actress/dancer Jenna Dewan paired with Val Chmerkovskiy. As contestants continue to make their mark on the dance floor, tension builds with each performance, culminating in thrilling eliminations that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

As the two-night premiere unfolds, fans are eager to see how the competition shapes up in this highly anticipated season. The combination of celebrity allure, dance talent, and live audience involvement promises drama and entertainment, ensuring that “Dancing with the Stars” Season 35 will be one the audience won’t want to miss. Each dance, filled with hope and ambition, sets the stage for an unforgettable journey packed with thrills, challenges, and the prospect of claiming the ultimate prize: the Mirrorball trophy. With everything on the line, the stars will undoubtedly dance their hearts out, making the ballroom their own stage as they strive for victory.
