The Historic DeSoto Theatre will serve as the festival's centerpiece, with additional events scheduled at venues like the Rome City Auditorium and Screen 417. A unique feature this year is a pop-up theatre being constructed at the Vogue for RIFF attendees, further enhancing the festival's atmosphere. In the spirit of inclusion, first-time guests from Rome and nearby areas can snag a 30% discount on a Deluxe Patron Pass before November 4, making it easier than ever for locals to dive into this cinematic experience.

This year's festival is expected to attract approximately 2,500 attendees, underscoring its importance to the community and its celebration of Georgia-based productions alongside an international slate. Highlighting the diverse scope of the programming is the appearance of renowned guests like Ray McKinnon, Jared and Jerusha Hess, and Danny McBride. The festival will honor McBride with the prestigious Flannery O’Connor Award for storytelling, recognizing his contributions to the film industry.

Opening night on November 5 will feature a screening of “The Accountant,” a short film that earned Academy Award recognition in 2002 and stars McKinnon alongside Walton Goggins. Following the film, McKinnon will participate in a Q&A session, allowing fans a rare glimpse into the creative process behind his work. After the festivities of the opening night, an exclusive after-party for pass holders promises to keep the momentum going.

As the weekend unfolds, the festival will showcase a robust program that includes a variety of films, panels, and workshops. On Friday, November 6, attendees can look forward to “True Crime All the Time,” a panel that delves into the realm of true crime storytelling, featuring notable journalists like Andy Kroll from Rolling Stone. The documentary “How to Feed a Dictator” will also be highlighted, focusing on the fascinating stories of chefs who served some of history's most notorious figures. Moreover, Jared and Jerusha Hess, the creative duo behind cult classics “Napoleon Dynamite” and “Nacho Libre,” will present their comedy film “Don Verdean,” adding an element of humor to the festival.

Saturday, November 7, will be packed with screenings across genres like horror, narrative features, and even faith-based films. McBride’s insightful conversations and Q&A sessions will continue, allowing festival-goers to engage deeply with his work and gain insights into his unique storytelling approach. The day will culminate in a highlighting event where McBride will officially receive his Flannery O’Connor Award, joining the ranks of esteemed past recipients like Billy Bob Thornton and Ethan Hawke. An exclusive party for pass holders will serve as a perfect capstone to an exciting day full of cinematic exploration.

The festival will conclude on Sunday, November 8, with a celebratory awards ceremony brunch, featuring screenings of films like “Bruton” and the Georgia-produced “Frogtown” as part of the day’s lineup. As a special finale, the concert “Rome Remembers Dolly” will honor the legendary Dolly Parton with an exciting performance at the Rome City Auditorium. Highlighted by local musicians and vocal talents, this tribute promises to be a memorable way to close out the festival while fostering community spirit.
