The Calgary Flames are set to host their 44th Annual Celebrity Charity Golf Classic, an exciting charity event presented by Scotiabank on September 9, 2025. This much-anticipated fundraiser benefits the Calgary Flames Foundation, which has a substantial impact on the community, focusing on health, wellness, education, and grassroots sports programs. The tournament will be held across two prestigious golf courses: Country Hills Golf Club and Cottonwood Golf & Country Club, with a total of 420 golfers ready to take on 54 holes of golf. This event not only marks the launch of the Flames' season but also serves as a platform for local celebrities, players, alumni, and fans to join together for a worthy cause.

The Celebrity Match Party, a new addition to the event this year, took place on the evening of September 8. Attendees were treated to a live auction featuring unique items and experiences, including exclusive tours of the Flames' dressing room. High-profile athletes and local stars mingled with fans while unveiling the team and course details. One of the highlights of the evening allowed golfers to bid for the chance to team up with renowned Flames celebrities like Craig Conroy, Mikael Backlund, or Lanny McDonald during the tournament. This opportunity to play alongside NHL legends added an extra layer of excitement to what is already a cherished event in Calgary sports culture.

Among the many celebrities participating at the Country Hills Golf Club, hockey enthusiasts will find notable names like Rasmus Andersson, Blake Coleman, and the ever-charismatic Lanny McDonald. Other familiar faces include veteran players like Dryden Hunt and Sam Honzek, alongside hockey staff and other personalities from the sporting world. Each participant contributes not only their skills on the green but also their dedication to raising funds for the Flames Foundation, making the tournament a blend of competition and celebration for a great cause.

The Cottonwood Golf & Country Club course also boasts an impressive line-up featuring former NHL players and celebrated personalities. Stars like Cassie Campbell-Pascall, Theo Fleury, and Mike Commodore will be hitting the links alongside upcoming talent and local heroes. With the community rallying together in such a spirited fashion, the event showcases the connection between hockey and philanthropy, highlighting how sports can bring people together for meaningful contributions to society.

After the day of golfing, participants will gather for the Western Energy Services Dinner Reception at the Scotiabank Saddledome arena floor. This gathering will not only signify the closing of the day’s activities but also serve as a reflection of the collective effort to support the Calgary Flames Foundation's mission. Since its inception in 1980, the Flames Foundation has invested over $70 million in initiatives aimed at improving the lives of southern Albertans, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to the community. This charitable spirit continues to thrive as players, fans, and celebrities unite, showcasing the heart and generosity that underpin the Calgary Flames organization.

The 44th Annual Calgary Flames Celebrity Charity Golf Classic is much more than just a tournament; it is a celebration of community, camaraderie, and charitable giving within the sports world. With special events like the Celebrity Match Party setting the tone for the day ahead, the tournament promises unforgettable experiences for athletes and fans alike. Engaging in friendly competition on the golf course while coming together for a common goal emphasizes the profound impact that sports can have beyond the rink. With each swing of the club, participants contribute to a larger mission: to uplift and support those in need throughout southern Alberta.
