Disney's current disclaimer before streaming content has gone through considerable modification. Previously, titles like "Peter Pan" provided an insightful commentary on harmful depictions of culture, stating: “This program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people and cultures.” This message intended to educate viewers about the historical contexts of these portrayals. However, as per the new adjustments, viewers will now see a much shorter, less prominent disclaimer that states: “This program is presented as originally created and may contain stereotypes or negative depictions.” Disclaimers that once auto-played before shows are now relegated to a lesser visibility in the “Details” tab of the streaming app, signaling a shift away from actively engaging audiences in conversations about inclusivity.



The shift in Disney's DEI stance raises eyebrows, particularly as it correlates with a broader conservative trend within the company. This transformation has been particularly noticeable since the backlash over the state of Florida's “Don’t Say Gay” legislation. Initially, Disney faced criticism for its failure to vocally oppose the law instituted by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
