Set on 14-plus acres, the Sacramento
Zoo is the largest accredited zoological park in the Central
Valley. Guests can view over 4,000 exotic animals, including
snow leopards, red pandas, and Sumatran tigers. A quarter of
the 130 resident species is endangered, and special programs
are implemented by the zoo to combat such circumstances, including
national breeding programs for two specific species. Adults
and children learn while having fun by attending stage presentations,
evening events, and weekend animal talks.
The Sacramento Zoo helps threatened
animals by managing national breeding programs for two of its
resident animal species. Almost half a million visitors come
to the zoo every year, so this is undoubtedly one of the top
Sacramento attractions. The exciting new Magellanic Penguin
exhibit opens in April of 2007.
